A Journey Unlike Any Other

Bhutan is one of the most awe-inspiring, culturally rich, & soul-stirring places in the world. On this 10-night adventure, we’ll immerse ourselves in pristine Himalayan landscapes, vibrant festivals, ancient monasteries, & untouched nature — all while nurturing your yoga practice & mindful presence.

Why This Journey Matters

Many years ago, while travelling in the Philippines, I sat next to a kind Nepalese woman on a flight.

Her stories of the struggles of young women in Nepal touched my heart deeply. I dreamed of one day contributing to similar projects on female empowerment, but due to my rheumatoid arthritis, I wasn’t able to participate — the projects were too remote & far from hospitals, which would have been risky if my immune system flared.

Now, over a decade on, guiding this journey through Bhutan feels like a full-circle moment. As we explore this magical country together, our trip will directly support meaningful local initiatives, including education & women’s empowerment projects in Nepal, such as the Menstrual Hygiene Management program, along with other impactful initiatives.

Every step we take — from trekking through pristine landscapes to visiting sacred monasteries — is woven with mindfulness, presence, & the knowledge that our journey contributes positively to the communities we encounter.

What Makes This Journey Special

This isn’t a typical “retreat.” It’s a 10-night journey of exploration, reflection, & connection. We’ll spend time in the spiritual & cultural heart of Bhutan, experiencing:

  • Thimphu, Paro, Bumthang, Punakha & Phobjikha – regions rich with sacred sites, serene mountain vistas, & local culture

  • Daily yoga practices to ground, restore, & connect to your inner stillness — completely optional so you can join in the way that feels right for you

  • Hiking through untouched nature, from gentle trails to breathtaking panoramic viewpoints

  • Cultural immersion, visiting monasteries, festivals, local artisans, & learning about Bhutanese traditions

  • Unique experiences, like joining monks & nuns in chanting, creating a personalized Bhutanese postage stamp, or exploring the rare & endearing Takin at the national preserve

  • Handpicked accommodations, including hotels with dedicated yoga spaces, & wellness facilities

  • Delicious nourishing meals, thoughtfully chosen to energise & delight

Every day is curated to balance adventure, reflection, & connection — with space to soak in the awe-inspiring beauty around you.

✨ Preview of the Journey:

Day 1 – Arrival in Paro
Touch down in the majestic Bhutan. Settle into your hotel, unwind, & enjoy your first gentle yoga session to ground & centre after your journey. Explore the nearby town & breathe in the sacred energy of the Himalayas.

Days 2–4 – Bumthang Valley
We’ll fly to the spiritual heart of Bhutan, Bumthang, where ancient monasteries & serene valleys await, plus a day at Domkhar Festival. Each day, morning yoga practices will help us connect with the landscape, followed by gentle hikes, temple visits, & cultural immersion. These days are designed to nourish both body & soul while connecting deeply with local traditions & artisans.

Days 5–6 – Phobjikha Valley
Nestled in a glacial valley, Phobjikha offers peaceful walks, crisp mountain air, & the chance to encounter the endangered black-necked cranes. Morning yoga & mindfulness practices will be woven into the rhythm of the valley’s calm, giving space to reflect & soak in the pristine beauty.

Days 7–8 – Punakha
Cross the scenic Dochula Pass into Punakha, where rivers, rice paddies, & iconic Dzongs await. Explore sacred sites including Chimi Lhakhang, the “fertility temple,” & enjoy slower-paced hikes. Yoga sessions in the evenings help anchor our experiences & integrate the day’s adventures.

Day 9 – Thimphu & return to Paro
Discover the vibrant capital city with visits to cultural museums, local artisans, & the peaceful nunnery. After lunch, we return to Paro & check into a wellness-focused hotel complete with a dedicated yoga studio, sauna, & heated pool — perfect for some restorative self-care before an early evening

practice & nourishing dinner.

Day 10 – Tiger’s Nest & Farewell
We’ll hike to the iconic Taktshang Monastery, the “Tiger’s Nest,” perched on a cliff above the valley. The journey is challenging but deeply rewarding, culminating in a final group yoga & meditation session to close the adventure, honour the experience, & set intentions for your next chapter.

Option to add 2 days in Kathmandu before, & 1 after the trip to help you ground & settle in the new surroundings.

“I attended Annie's Cacao & Yoga Nidra Sunday session last week and it was wonderful. I had the most restorative sleep afterwards and I feel truly energised this week. Thank you Annie for the work you are doing. I recommend it highly."

Fran

As I am a qualified yoga teacher myself it was important to me to find a class where yoga was taught authentically. Annie is really well trained and puts huge research and thought into her classes. I always come away feeling better than I arrived. I sleep brilliantly after class too! I can really recommend her classes."

Lisa

“I have to say, Annie's Yoga Nidra was the best I have every experienced. I definitely went to another plane, somewhere between sleep & meditation. Glorious.”
